                                                                Truth

“Anyone who doesn’t take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either.”
Albert Einstein

“Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth.”
Pablo Picasso

In a slight break from our normal format, we would like to offer more quotes about “truth” than the usual two. The complexity of truthfulness is rather succinctly demonstrated in the quote from Lao Tzu – “The words of truth are always paradoxical”.

Truth is not simple. According to the dictionary the opposite of truth is falsehood, but even this isn’t the real answer. Sometimes the opposite of truth is a different truth; another person’s interpretation.

On the weekend, there was a film on television called “The Invention of Lying” – written, directed and starring Ricky Gervais. With his wit and foresight, Gervais illustrated the paradox of truth very clearly. A world where nobody knew how to lie was a dystopia. There was no fiction, no films and too much honesty that didn’t consider other peoples’ feelings.

Sometimes, a road to truthfulness might need a few diversions for the sake of yourself and others.

“Three things cannot be hidden long: the sun, the moon, and the truth.”

        Buddha

“There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.”
     Buddha

“Even if you’re in a minority of one, the truth is the truth.”

     Mahatma Gandhi

“The truth will set you free, but first it will make you miserable.”
      James A. Garfield

“Truth is a deep kindness that teaches us to be content in our everyday life and  share with the people the same happiness.”

      Khalil Gibran

“The truth is rarely pure and never simple.”
     Oscar Wilde

“If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.”
    Mark Twain

TRUTH has the Divine Power.  Hell must grow darker at It’s Frown.

with truth lies the pure thoughts,
for nothing is to be made up form,
the riches of the soul sparkle
if truth shines on our lips for long!
