What is Prayer?
Prayer is a form of communication, a way of talking to God.
The word “Pray” comes from the Latin word “Precari”, which means to entreat or ask.
In fact, although Pray is not often used this way, it can simply mean “Please”.
While one may often think of Prayer primarily asking GOD for something, Prayer when properly understood,
would be a conversation with GOD. Just as one cannot hold a conversation with another person unless that person can listen,
the very act of Praying is an implicit recognition of the presence of GOD. In Praying one strengthens that recognition of
the presence of GOD and such a notion draws the person closer to HIM (GOD).
First and foremost prayer is an expression of ones relationship with GOD.
That is; GOD is our Father and we are HIS children. AS such we are dependent on HIM.
Therefore, it is a relationship of dependency.
We human beings never really pray in respect of our needs already met.
We have needs in order that we pray.
This is how we remind ourselves that GOD exists. This is how we build a relationship with HIM.
The Bible says that what happens to us is a direct consequence of our relationship with our Creator,
because it is GOD who is in charge of all that happens in the physical world.
That is why Church recommends that every one should pray frequently and make prayer an important part of our every day lives.
What happens and how that which happened affects is determined by the relationship with the Master of the Universe.
So to say, ones relationship with the Master of the Universe is monitored by the prayers and that”s how the one interacts with HIM
directly — it is how one can speak to HIM — it is howone can hear HIM — it is how one develops an emotional relationship with HIM.
Prayer is not a spare-wheel that one pulls out when in trouble, but it is a steering wheel that directs the right path throughout.
Prayer can never be a formality. It is not dashing off a bunch of words in a prescribed sequence.
Prayer is speaking to GOD, our Creator, our Father, the Almighty from the innermost recesses of our being.
In fact, any adult knows from life experience, for any relationship to stand a chance, it has to be real.
One can choose to pray through the recitation of Blessings and Psalms and Sages advises it.
When one prays for others also GOD listens and Blesses that other ones.
Sometimes when we feel happy, it is necessary to remember that some one might have prayed for us.
Prayer is one of the Greatest Blessings we have while we are here on earth.
Through Prayer we can communicate with our Heavenly Father and seek HIS Guidance daily
